The NWS Weather Prediction Center currently has Southeast Ohio under a slight risk of excessive rainfall for Sunday. Total predicted amounts are expected to be around 1.5″ to 2″ of rain. Be aware of any flash flood warnings issued for the area, and in the case of a flash flood warning, evacuate low lying areas prone to flooding, stay away from any overflowing creeks and rivers, and turn around; don’t drown if you encounter any flooded roadways or sidewalks.

Athens will continue to have a much-needed break from the rain for a few days after significant flooding impacted the area on Thursday. There is a small chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm on Saturday, but chances remain low. Fathers Day will be mostly pleasant with some clouds during the day. A storm system will then make its way into the region during the evening and overnight hours, bringing more rain and more chances for flooding in the region. Make sure to have a  way to receive warnings in case of a flash flood warning from these storms. Looking ahead, the showers and storms from Sunday night will last into Monday before calmer and drier weather settles into the region for the rest of the week.
