Forecast Discussion
As high-pressure stabilizes the atmosphere today, an upper-level shortwave trough Tuesday in conjunction with an intense low-pressure system will make for an incredibly soggy New Years Eve and into New Years Day. This low-pressure system will move northeastward from The Plains, intensifying as it travels. This system will not bring us severe weather, thankfully, but will wash out any outdoor plans for New Years Eve—including the evening. Gusty winds tomorrow and tomorrow night could knock over any outdoor decorations, so make sure those are secured or brought inside!
By Wednesday and the remainder of the week, precipitation chances will remain, but they will not be as prominent as Tuesday. Anyone who is a fan of chillier temperatures will be pleased to hear that a dramatic cooling trend is expected later this week! The chance for snow showers returns Wednesday through Friday, however, the possibility of precipitation is not too high.
