A potent trough ejecting over the midwest region has brought a low-pressure system that is in the occluding stages to our region. This negatively tilted trough has warranted a Slight Risk (2/5) from the Storm Prediction Center for the threat of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Strong instability and moisture present will pose a threat for severe thunderstorms in the late afternoon to evening hours today, with main hazards looking to be damaging hail, wind gusts, and a tornado threat with any organized storms due to ample wind shear being present tomorrow.

After the cold front passes through tonight into tomorrow, expect temperatures to drop slightly, and even more after another cold front Thursday into Friday. Chances for showers and thunderstorms look to linger the rest of this week and at least into the weekend with both of the aforementioned systems.
