Forecast Discussion

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Athens County and the surrounding counties from 7 AM to 10 PM Tuesday. Slippery roads are expected throughout Tuesday as additional snow makes its way through the region during the day. We may see an additional 1-2″ of snow as this system moves just south of the state. However, temperatures will dance around freezing tomorrow, so mixed precipitation of rain and snow may fall at times; although, snow will be the primary precipitation to fall tomorrow. Moving into the latter half of the week, calmer conditions are expected, though we may see a brief warm-up on Friday as a system brings warmer air during the day. However, this system may bring more snow flurries to the region overnight into Friday. If this warm air pushes the region above freezing, we may see some of the snow on the ground melt, thankfully.
