A Flood Watch has been issued for Athens County today into 8 AM tomorrow. Impacts include the potential flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas because of excess rain. Creeks and streams may rise above their banks, and poorly drained and urban areas may see flooding occur. 

The next few days are expected to be quite soggy due to multiple systems moving through the region that will bring us this rain. The slight risk for excessive rainfall remains in our area, meaning many areas could experience localized flooding and isolated significant flash flooding possible. Please heed caution when driving today and the next few days because of the flood risk. Thankfully, the Hocking River is not forecasted to rise significantly to the point of concern, but it will rise higher than it has been as of recent.

Outside of flooding risks, temperatures will rise into the coming days as the colder air that moved through the state moves further away from SE Ohio and warm air replaces it. Temperatures will reach to near or at 80 through Tuesday before it steadies around 80 next week. Winds will be gusty today and tomorrow due to the passing of this initial system but will calm by Sunday.
