The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Athens County. This is due to heat indexes today reaching as high as 103 degrees and will be in effect from 11 am until 8 pm.

A rainy weekend is ahead as a low pressure system will enter our area bringing us chances for showers and thunderstorms until Monday night. Due to these showers and thunderstorms we are under a marginal risk (1/4) for excessive rainfall today. Please be aware of any ponding of water on roadways and in low-lying areas. Outside of the rain we can expect the hot weather to stick around with highs remaining in the upper 80s and low 90s until a cold front makes its way into our region on Wednesday.
