Forecast Discussion

Athens will continue to remain dry tonight and through the beginning of Sunday with a high pressure system briefly in control. Partly to mostly cloudy skies will persist tonight, keeping lows in the upper-30s. Clouds will continue to be scattered for the beginning of Sunday before becoming overcast during the late afternoon/evening hours, with highs soaring to near 60. Another shortwave trough will approach our region Sunday night, with a low pressure continuing to develop and drift towards the Mid-Atlantic region by Sunday evening. Rain showers associated with the low will enter SE Ohio Sunday night and continue into the day Monday, with a transition to snow occurring during the late morning/early afternoon hours with the colder air filtering in.
