Forecast Discussion

A very strong upper level jet streak, combined with a very deep upper level trough have created a very deep low pressure centered over southeastern Nebraska. This low will bring with it a warm front, which will advect much warmer air into the area today. Highs will be in the 80s for the first time this season today. A cold front attached to the strong low will bring the chance for thunderstorms late morning and early afternoon tomorrow. There is a marginal risk for severe weather in eastern Ohio, mainly east of I-77. In Athens, there should be minimal severe weather threat. As the low weakens, the cold front will as well, allowing warmer air to remain over the region over the next couple of days.
