Forecast Discussion

Meridional flow in the upper jet has allowed a ridge in the polar jet to occur over our area. A strong surface high pressure at the surface has kept sunny skies and calm winds overhead. This high will move off to the east allowing a surface low associated with an upper level jet streak to move in tonight into Friday. Warm air advection associated with a warm front will occur tonight, which is why lows tonight should stay relatively warm. This warm front will bring with it chances of rain Friday morning into the afternoon. A cold front will push through on Saturday bringing thunderstorms into the area. There could be a marginal severe weather threat, with model guidance suggesting minimum threshold CAPE values. However, the risk should be low, with the primary threat of a damaging straight line wind gust or two. Temperatures cool off for Sunday, with highs only in the upper 40s.
