Brian is originally from Fairborn, OH and graduated from Ohio University in 1991 with a BS in Meteorology/Geography. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Brian joined the faculty at Stony Brook University (SBU) on Long Island, NY in 1999. He is now a Full Professor and Division Head of the Atmospheric Science Division within the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at SBU. Brian is also a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society.
Brian teaches synoptic/mesoscale meteorology and weather forecasting at the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests include snow banding within winter storms, ensemble model product development for forecasters, extreme weather modeling, regional climate, and better communication of extreme weather. Sean Murphy is a sophomore at Ohio University as a Geography Meteorology major. He enjoys winter weather and severe weather. He is a nature lover, fisherman, and car enthusiast. He hopes to be an Air Force Meteorological Officer. He resides in Pittsburgh PA.

Mary is a sophomore student in Meteorology and is a member of the Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society at Ohio University. Some of her hobbies include running, drawing, painting, and exercising. In the future, she hopes to become a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

Gretchen is a junior at Ohio University pursuing a Geography-Meteorology degree with a minor in Aerospace Studies. She grew up in Springfield, Ohio, and is planning to be a Weather Officer in the U.S. Air Force after commissioning through AFROTC. She is in the university jazz ensemble, when her schedule allows, and was in the Marching 110 for two years as a trumpet player. Her current hobbies include finishing recreational pilot’s license, baking, and studying Russian.

Isabelle is a sophomore here at Ohio University studying Broadcast Meteorology hoping one day to become an On Air Meteorologist for a news station. Being from Northeast Ohio she grew up fascinated by lake effect snow which brought her to love all types of weather phenomena. When she’s not at WOUB forecasting for Newswatch, she’s busy being the President of her sorority Sigma Kappa.

Jakeb Wagner is a senior meteorology student at Ohio University. Jakeb is from Canton, Ohio where he played baseball and graduated from Canton GlenOak High School. This semester, Jakeb will be researching Antarctic Sea ice extent through case studies of the three biggest decreases in sea ice since 1970. Reed Timmer, Simon Brewer, and Jim Cantore are meteorologists that influenced Jakeb’s passion for meteorology growing up. Jakeb’s dream is to one day be part of the Storm Prediction Center.

Eli is currently a Junior Majoring in Aviation Flight with Minors in Aviation Management and Geography/ Meterology, He is also a member of Women in Aviation at Ohio University and an Aviation Ambassador to the Russ College of Engineering. After graduation from Ohio University Eli plans to pursue a career in Aviation hoping to work at a major airline.

Benjamin Woodson and is currently a Sophomore majoring in Geography Meteorology. He is from Nelsonville, Ohio which is about 20 minutes north of Athens. His main interest within meteorology is severe weather and tropical meteorology. In his my free time, Ben enjoys watching the current weather, playing the piano, and landscaping.

Emily Dietz is currently a sophomore working on a Geography – Meteorology major and Geology major at Ohio University. She is involved with the Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (OUCAMS) and the club rowing team. Her interests include extreme weather, weather instrumentation, and climate research. In her free time, Emily enjoys hiking, reading, and playing soccer.

Chris is a senior majoring in Aviation Flight with minors in Aviation Management and Meteorology. He has had a passion for airplanes and weather since he was a little kid and has always dreamed of flying for an airline someday. He loves watching severe weather and tornadoes and even went storm chasing in Oklahoma and Texas last spring. Chris is a member of the Ohio University Sailing Team and the Precision Flight Team, both activities that rely on accurate weather forecasting. In his free time, Chris enjoys watching college football, geocaching, and photography.
