Bronwyn is a current junior at Ohio University, pursuing a meteorology degree with additional studies in geographic information systems (GIS) and mathematics. Originally from Pickerington, Ohio, she now lives in Athens with her bird and two longtime friends. After graduation, she hopes to one day have a career with NOAA focusing on mesoscale meteorology. When not occupied with school, Bronwyn loves to explore the beautiful roads around Athens and the neighboring counties, create digital paintings, and play video games with friends.

Andrew Branney is a second-year meteorology major from a town called Hartville, about 15 minutes south of Akron, Ohio. He is currently a member of the Ohio University’s Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (OUCAMS), and works alongside head of the meteorology department, Dr. Ryan Fogt, assisting him with his research that is taken in Antarctica. In March of 2024 at the annual OUCAMS symposium, he received the Isaac Scholars Foundation Scholarship. Andrew is also a Resident Assistant in the Brown/Pickering dorm complex on campus. Andrew graduated in 2023 from Lake High School, where he participated in basketball and baseball. Outside of basketball and baseball, he also enjoys hanging out with family and friends, stargazing, enjoying nature, and listening to music, specifically country.

Brian is originally from Fairborn, OH and graduated from Ohio University in 1991 with a BS in Meteorology/Geography. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Brian joined the faculty at Stony Brook University (SBU) on Long Island, NY in 1999. He is now a Full Professor and Division Head of the Atmospheric Science Division within the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at SBU. Brian is also a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society.
Brian teaches synoptic/mesoscale meteorology and weather forecasting at the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests include snow banding within winter storms, ensemble model product development for forecasters, extreme weather modeling, regional climate, and better communication of extreme weather. Andrew is a 3rd year meteorology major with a minor in chemistry from Amelia Ohio. His interest in weather started due to his family being from New Orleans and having experienced several hurricanes he developed an interest in natural sciences generally and meteorology more specifically. He transferred to OU from UC Cincinnati in 2023 and joined the OU Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. After getting involved with the chapter he decided to change his major from Chemical Engineering to Meteorology. His primary area of focus is tropical cyclones, and he plans to go on to grad school and eventually apply to the National Hurricane Center.

Jacob is a 2nd-year meteorology student at Ohio University from Dayton, Ohio. His passion for the weather started from an early age, which mainly revolved around drawing weather maps, religiously watching The Weather Channel, and observing thunderstorms. Jacob knew he wanted to major in meteorology in college after the historical Memorial Day tornado outbreak of 2019 which occurred in and around the Dayton area and produced many intense tornadoes. His main meteorological fixations include supercells and the science behind them, as well as climate change and concerning trends in our planet’s climate currently being observed by climate scientists. After undergrad school, Jacob plans to go on to obtain a master’s degree in meteorology, after which he hopes to enter a career in operational meteorology with the National Weather Service or another similar career.

Sean Murphy is a sophomore at Ohio University as a Geography Meteorology major. He enjoys winter weather and severe weather. He is a nature lover, fisherman, and car enthusiast. He hopes to be an Air Force Meteorological Officer. He resides in Pittsburgh PA.

Mary is a sophomore student in Meteorology and is a member of the Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society at Ohio University. Some of her hobbies include running, drawing, painting, and exercising. In the future, she hopes to become a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

Isabelle is a sophomore here at Ohio University studying Broadcast Meteorology hoping one day to become an On Air Meteorologist for a news station. Being from Northeast Ohio she grew up fascinated by lake effect snow which brought her to love all types of weather phenomena. When she’s not at WOUB forecasting for Newswatch, she’s busy being the President of her sorority Sigma Kappa.

Jakeb Wagner is a senior meteorology student at Ohio University. Jakeb is from Canton, Ohio where he played baseball and graduated from Canton GlenOak High School. This semester, Jakeb will be researching Antarctic Sea ice extent through case studies of the three biggest decreases in sea ice since 1970. Reed Timmer, Simon Brewer, and Jim Cantore are meteorologists that influenced Jakeb’s passion for meteorology growing up. Jakeb’s dream is to one day be part of the Storm Prediction Center.

Elijah is currently a Senior at Ohio University and is majoring in Meteorology. He is from Westerville, OH, where he competed in Cross Country and Track and Field throughout high school. Elijah is a member of the Ohio University’s Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (OUCAMS) and has served as an intern in the summer of 2023 for the NSF-funded NEPARS REU, a research internship co-hosted by both Plymouth State University and Hobart and William Smith Colleges. His weather interests lie in winter weather, polar climatology, and severe weather. Outside of class, Elijah enjoys running with people, Chess, watching sports (such as NASCAR, F1, and football), simulation and racing video games (City Skylines, Sid Meijer’s Civilization, and Forza), and listening to music from artists such as The Chainsmokers, Porter Robinson, Coldplay, Empire of the Sun, Twenty One Pilots, and Illenium (electronic, dance, ambient, pop punk, and pop rock music).
