Biography

Lauren Warner graduated from Purdue University in Spring 2020 with a B.S. in Atmospheric Science. Lauren was a member of the Purdue University Meteorological Association and the Weather Radar Research Laboratory. She provided forecasts for Purdue’s Emergency Preparedness and Planning Office and participated in the WxChallenge for several years. She also performed research with Dr. Robin Tanamachi using Purdue’s radar, the XTRRA. She presented this research at AMS 2020 and an article on her research is planned to be published in the Fall 2020 issue of JPUR.

Lauren was accepted to Ohio University as Associate Director of Scalia Laboratory for Fall 2020. She will be teaching the Observational Meteorology and Forecasting classes at the University, running the forecasting lab, and conducting research.

John is a junior majoring in physics-meteorology and minoring in geography. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from The summit Country Day School in 2016. John’s main passions in weather include forecasting or researching severe weather and winter storms. Outside of meteorology, John enjoys watching the reds and bengals, hiking, and photography. He is seeking a career in the forecasting field and later plans to get into severe weather research.

Nathan is currently a senior at Ohio University studying geography-meteorology. A 2018 graduate of Saint Charles Preparatory School, he comes from Blacklick, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. His primary interests in the field span all types of extreme weather, from severe thunderstorms to winter storms to hurricanes and everything in between. He has been an active member of the Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (OUCAMS), and is also part of the Ohio University Climate and Sustainability Ambassadors. While his life after graduation is far from set in stone, he plans to attend graduate school to receive his master’s degree, then attain a job either in operational forecasting or research. Outside of meteorology, Nathan is a road geek (he owns at least 7 road atlases), an avid sports fan (especially of the Chicago Bears and Columbus Blue Jackets), and an active follower of music charts.

My name is Erin Elise Evans and I am a Geography/Meteorology major in my sixth and final year of undergraduate school, and my second year at Ohio University. I previously attended The Ohio State University for Atmospheric Sciences before transferring to smaller schools desiring a simpler environment. I enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming, reading, and just generally being outdoors. I am very interested in learning about the atmosphere and how weather affects our everyday lives. I’m interested in about everything from climate change, to severe weather and tornadoes, to hurricanes, and even extreme polar weather in places like the Arctic and Antarctic. I’m still unsure about what I want to do after graduation because I want to do it all, but as long as I am working with my passion for weather I look forward to any opportunity that may arise.

Christina Jacobs grew up in Fairborn, Ohio. She completed her first undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at the University of Toledo. She is currently pursuing her second undergraduate degree in the Department of Geography with a Meteorology major. After completing her program she intends on continuing her education and pursuing a graduate degree.

I am currently a second year Meteorology major at Ohio University. I am from Phoenix, Arizona but lived in Mason, Ohio as a young kid and grew up coming up back here which made we want to come to college in Ohio! I am the secretary for OUCAMS and am involved in my sorority Alpha Gamma Delta. I am interested in climatology, emergency management and operational meteorology. In my free time, I love trying out new restaurants, exploring different places in Athens and taking pictures of nature (especially since OU is so beautiful!).

My name is Londynn-Rae Caldwell from Columbus, OH. I am currently a sophomore studying Meteorology at Ohio University. I enjoy looking at severe weather and hopefully to become a hurricane hunter in the Air Force! Besides studying, I like to go on walks and hangout with my friends.

Aaron Will is a senior at Ohio University and is studying meteorology for his major. It is likely that he will pursue a career in the private sector. Renewable Energy and logistics are at the top of his ideal job list.

Scott graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Meteorology and a minor in Physics. While at OU, Scott was involved with the Ohio University Meteorology Club (earlier version of OUCAMS) and aviation. After graduation, Scott attended graduate school at Ohio State University, obtaining a M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences and a Ph.D. in Physical Geography/Atmospheric Sciences. His research involved Current and Paleoclimate of the western United States, while also organizing a yearly field experience education trip to Great Basin National Park. Scott had the ability to return to OU from Jan 2016 to May 2017 as a Visiting Assistant Professor and teach and advisor students in Scalia Lab. Scott is currently an Assistant Professor of Geography at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH.
