Austin was the lead forecaster for Scalia for the 18-19 school year. With being a former intern for the Athens Emergency Management Agency, he successfully established a working relationship with them and Scalia Lab as well as other important public entities. He was heavily active in OUCAMS serving as both an Event Coordinator, Logistic Committee Chairman and Vice President. He also participated in the Wx Challenge tournament, winning the forecasting tournament at Ohio University in 2018. During 2019, Austin assisted with a project with the Red Cross and Scalia staff to create a make shift model of a system that would produce heavy flooding for SE Ohio in order to assist the Red Cross with training for such events. Austin was also the co-chairman of the StormReady initiative along with Matt Thigpen that will hopefully make Ohio University StormReady certified by 2020

As of graduating May 5th 2019, Austin will be temporarily interning at Mount Washington Observatory to do research as well as forecast joining former associate director Ian Bailey. After his internship, Austin will continue his education at Millersville University, pursuing a Master’s in Emergency Management.
