Technical Forecast Discussion
Key Messages
- Showers and possibly a rumble of thunder is expected overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
- Temperatures will rapidly rise through the weekend and into the work week as multiple warm fronts pass through the region. Highs could get into the 90s by early next week.
Key Message 1…
A trough will continue pushing out of the region today as zonal conditions are beckoned in aloft. High-pressure will dominate over much of Ohio, keeping our skies mostly clear and dry. Winds are expected to be fairly breezy today as gusts could reach as high as 18 mph in some spots in-part due to the cold front that’s made its way over the state overnight. Winds are expected generally from the northwest because of this cold front but will move more westerly to southerly overnight into Friday as we see the approach of a strong system moves eastward. This system is an offshoot of an occluded low in Canada and could bring the chance for some showers and possibly a rumble of thunder Saturday night into early Sunday morning. These showers will rapidly move past the region before sunrise on Sunday.
Key Message 2…
Temperatures will rapidly warm into the coming days as we see our last 60-degree day for the near-future on Thursday. The aforementioned trough will move out of the state by early Friday morning, allowing for warmer temperatures to fill into the region. Alongside this ridge, multiple systems will put the state into the warm sector, encouraging warmer air to move in as well, amplifying our temperature trend. Our temperatures could reach into the 90s Monday and Tuesday, but will steadily decrease starting Wednesday as the low passes and a cold front sweeps through.
