Forecast Discussion
Showers and storms will continue to drift to the South and East as a cold front slides through the region. Some patchy fog is possible by the early morning hours on Wednesday as skies clear and winds begin to calm down. Temperatures will quickly climb into the 80s on Wednesday as Mostly sunny skies will dominate for the first half of the day. An isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out for Wednesday afternoon and into the early evening hours as a front stalls to the Northeast of Athens. Calm conditions return for Wednesday night as skies will clear once again dropping temperatures into the upper 60s. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase by Thursday as a low pressure system digs into the Great Lakes region ahead of now Hurricane Laura. The system to the North will pull Laura North and East into the area on Friday and Saturday allowing for the enhancement of showers and thunderstorms. Gusty winds are also likely by Saturday as Laura will continue to weaken as it moves from West to East through the area.
