Forecast Discussion

Showers and thunderstorms will build into the region throughout the day today, some may be severe. Frequent cloud to ground lightning, hail and, damaging winds up to 60 mph are possible. This is all due to a low pressure system accompanied by an upper level trough over the southern Great Lakes. Hot and humid conditions remain in place across much of the region prior to any thunderstorm activity. This trend looks to continue into Independence Day with more showers and thunderstorms likely. The pattern remains wet through the first half of the weekend before a cold front looks to move through the region early Sunday.
