Isolated showers and thunderstorms dotted around the area are currently winding down and fizzling out. This will give way to mostly cloudy skies, calm winds, and no rain for the night with a low near 60 F. On Saturday, temperatures will rise to around 80 F under partly cloudy skies. As with today, a chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm impacting the Athens area is possible in the afternoon to early evening timeframe which will then give way to partly cloudy skies and a low of around 60 F. On Sunday, stronger southwesterly winds will bring in higher temperatures and humidity with a high around 88 F. Once again, thunderstorm chances increase in the afternoon, but it is possible that the remnants of a severe thunderstorm complex may move through the area towards the late evening hours. This will continue to be monitored, but mainly strong wind gusts would be expected with these storms.
