Forecast Discussion

Happy December!

To start off this wintery month, slight snow flurries will be coming down today and overall snow chances are going to be swooping in tonight into early Tuesday morning. At the moment, the National Weather Service Charleston, WV office has Athens, OH receiving a total of 2-3 inches over the course of 7am today to 7am on Thursday the 4rd. This snow is looking to begin falling after midnight on Tuesday and into the early hours, affecting morning commutes. The Charleston, WV office predicts 0.01″ to 0.1″ inch of this ice will fall overnight during this period. To welcome in this snow, winds will shift to northwesterly come early Tuesday.

As we move more into our midweek, highs will stay in the low- to mid-30s, resulting in this snow staying on the ground until the weekend. Skies will remain mostly cloudy and overcast despite clearing up on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has many resources to help prepare for winter weather. Be safe and be sure to review them here.
