Forecast Discussion

As we head into the start of the holiday week, a warming trend should be expected. A broad ridging pattern moving over the region and high-pressure will keep skies clear, allowing for the temperatures to increase. Stable conditions will also keep our winds calm making Monday and into the holidays quite pleasant. Unfortunately, a white Christmas is not expected. Christmas could be slightly soggy with a 30% chance of rain, but there is the chance for it to be gloomy and dreary. By Tuesday, a mid-latitude cyclone will push through Michigan. At the end of the day, the cold front will move over Athens and cool the region. Tuesday-Thursday will all have the chance for rainy conditions, and Friday does not look like it will be any drier.
