Forecast Discussion
We’ve made it just a few days into meteorological winter, and we’re already getting started with our first winter system of the year! Firstly, though, today will be somewhat cloudy and murky due to a low pressure system sitting above the region. This will clear out into the early nighttime hours, but not for long as a cut-off low pressure system will make its way into the region. This system will likely be the first wintry system we see for the year, and has prompted NWS Charleston to issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook regarding tomorrow. Snow is expected to begin early in the morning tomorrow, and last until temperatures make their way above freezing. Significant accumulation or icing is not expected, though it could definitely be enough to cause some issues during the morning commute, per the NWS.
Following tomorrow, we’ll get another break! We’ll have a strong high pressure dome fend off any more wintry systems, and we’ll have nice, warmer, clearer weather until another cold front brings us back into reality this weekend.
