Technical Forecast Discussion Meet the Forecaster

Issued: 8pm on Monday, July 20th 2026

Forecast Discussion

Our severe weather threat is still on for tomorrow, as damaging winds still remain the main threat. Possible hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out as well. The Storm Prediction Center has issued an Enhanced Risk (level 3 out of 5) for Athens and the surrounding areas. Flooding is also a concern, as these storms will bring heavy rainfall. Timing will be in the afternoon into the evening hours. Make sure to check for future forecasts, as the forecast could slightly change.

As the upcoming disturbance moves through, temperatures will cool down a bit as a cold front moves through, and highs the rest of the week will be in the high 70s and low 80s. Conditions will be beautiful with sunny skies through the end of the work week.
