The NWS in Charleston WV has issued a Winter storm warning in effect from 1pm this afternoon to 1pm Sunday. Heavy snow of at least 5 inches is expected to fall, with higher amounts of 7 inches possible. Traveling will become hazardous at times. If planning to travel, please take extra caution.

A Very active weekend ahead. We’ll start off with cloudy skies with the high near 34 degrees today. Snow will likely begin falling around 2pm this afternoon. Accumulation will start to pick up as we enter the evening, affecting the evening commute. Please leave yourself time if planning to travel. Snow will last through most of the night, ending around 2am. Very cold air will rush in on the back side of this system, bringing our low tonight to 10 degrees and our high on Sunday only to 15 degrees. Windchill temperatures are likely to be below zero. Please take caution of any sensitive pipes and have a way to keep warm. Throughout the new week, we’ll start to be on a warming trend with temperatures possibly in the 50s by the end of the week.
