Forecast Discussion
A very slow cold front is making its way towards our region and will grant us chances of rain showers of thunderstorms, but shear and instabilities are on the lower end, so severity is not a concern at the moment. However, with a slow-moving cold front, chances are higher for more localized flooding due to the also slow-moving storms and showers. For Sunday 07/13, the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has included Athens, OH in the Marginal Risk (1/4) on the Excessive Rainfall Outlook, meaning that localized flash floods are possible. As we shift from Sunday into Monday, afternoon rain showers are probable again as the cold front makes its final rounds before moving out of the state and into West Virginia by Tuesday.
