Forecast Discussion
Cold, wintry conditions will continue as we go into the holiday weekend. Today, expect a high of 35 with westerly winds that will make it feel much colder. Overnight our temperatures will drop into the teens, making for a frigid Saturday morning. If you plan on spending time outside, be sure to dress appropriately as these are some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen so far this season. Saturday night a wintry system will move into the area bringing the chance for some snow showers that will quickly switch over to rain overnight and into Sunday morning. Little to no snow accumulation is expected in the Athens area, but if you plan on traveling between 10pm Saturday and noon Sunday be prepared for slippery road conditions.
Moving into next week we are watching another system that will impact us Monday night into Tuesday. Uncertainty on the track of the system is still high, but odds that it will be a snow-maker are increasing. Be prepared for potentially adverse travel conditions Tuesday and stay up to date on the latest forecast here on the Scalia website.
