Technical Forecast Discussion

Short-term Forecast (Monday 6/10/2024 through Thursday 6/13/2024):

A cold front that is passing through this Monday afternoon and may bring some light, scattered showers to SE Ohio this evening and early overnight hours. However, high pressure will immediately fill in behind going into Tuesday. Therefore, a sunny, dry afternoon is anticipated Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures will remain on the cooler side, though, in the mid-to-upper 70s as the northwesterly surface flow continues. Dewpoints will also remain in the 40s, which will keep humidity out, making for a really nice afternoon.

High pressure will continue through Thursday, allowing for the dry weather to continue. However, a warming trend begins Wednesday as southerly flow takes hold, causing afternoon highs to climb into the 90s by Thursday and Friday. Additionally, dewpoints will climb as moisture is advected in by the southerly flow, making it a hot and humid end of the work week. Therefore, if you intend to spend any extended periods of time outside, make sure to take breaks if possible and stay hydrated!

Long-term Forecast (Friday 6/14/2024 through Sunday 6/16/2024):

Hot and humid conditions, with highs remaining in the 90s will basically continue into the weekend as well. A small break from the humidity will occur Saturday as a weak cold front associated with a small shortwave passes through, but it will not do much in terms of bringing the temperatures back down. The high pressure will immediately return following that cold front, and sunny skies will remain overhead. The CPC has SE Ohio in well-above averages temperatures and below-average precipitation for the next 6-10 days as a result of this large high pressure.
