Much like prior weeks, a cold front has passed over Athens overnight, pushing out the warm, breezy conditions, and bringing seasonably cold temperatures back to the region. Today, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures peaking in the mid to upper-40s, with winds below 10 mph. Tonight, our light winds will shift from the west to the northeast as higher pressure begins to build to our northeast, resulting in partly cloudy skies becoming overcast overnight. The remnants of the winter storm crippling the Northern Plains will push that high pressure out of the region overnight Friday, but is too far north for any impacts in our region beyond a chance of light scattered mixed precipitation Saturday morning. Saturday will be gloomy, but slightly warmer than Friday, with a high near 53 degrees. Winds will again be between 5-10 mph, this time from the west. By night, some breaks in the skies are possible, as partly cloudy conditions will persist into the morning hours of Sunday, and temperatures in the low 30s.
