Enjoy the quote “heat wave” today and tomorrow! A broad ridge will settle over the Ohio Valley today and tomorrow which will allow warmer air from the south to travel northward. Sunny skies will unfortunately only last today, so make sure you enjoy it before the clouds make their return. A cold front associated with a large system of interconnected low-pressure will bring us rain and gusty winds tonight. This cold front will pass over us tomorrow, and by mid-afternoon the winds will turn from a northerly direction. Unfortunately, by this time into Sunday a massive trough will dig over much of the northern United States. This will allow frigid arctic air to permeate back into Ohio Sunday into early next week. We cannot stress it enough that we ask you to please keep warm during this plunge in temperatures. Make sure to not have any skin exposed to the cold and wear multiple layers of clothing if possible. In general mittens are preferred over gloves because the fabric will retain heat by keeping your fingers together– not separated. Remember that you lose a lot of body heat from your head, so consider wearing a hat or a hood!
