Forecast Discussion

Clouds are expected to rapidly increase today as we approach the evening hours. Ahead of a cold front will be a line of showers that could produce a rumble of thunder late tonight into tomorrow morning. The storm prediction center has put Athens under a severe threat today, and storms could fire off by this evening. Any strong storms to impact the region could produce the threat of strong winds and hail. Please stay weather aware today in the event any severe storms are near the southeastern Ohio region. By Saturday and into next week, the trough aloft will slowly broaden and fizzle out as high-pressure once again makes a return. Temperatures could reach back into the mid-80s next week with clearing skies to follow.
