An advancing cold front is expected to push through, and with it, the expected chance for showers and thunderstorms later this evening. The main risk tonight are strong wind gusts as well as hail. These showers will be welcomed for the intense heat we’ve been experiencing alongside the drought affecting Athens. Once these showers exit the region and the cold front passes, a brief moment of relief is expected the next couple of days.

Monday’s high is only expected to reach the upper 70s! With sunny skies, Labor Day will make for a beautiful and much-needed cooldown and break from the sweltering heat. Unfortunately, Tuesday and Wednesday will be a little bit warmer, but it is not expected to get as hot as it was this past week.
