Forecast Discussion

A strong low-pressure system that has rapidly strengthened associated with an occluded front has moved over the region. This surface low is bringing very frigid arctic air from up north to the region, which will bring daytime highs down into the low to mid-20s, and also strong winds gusting up to 40 mph today and tonight. This system is also going to bring a wintry mix as the temperature drops today transitioning from rain to snow, and then completely snow showers by tonight.

As moisture on the backside of the surface low sticks around, snow showers will linger on MLK Day and Tuesday to start the week with still very frigid temperatures. Low temperatures are expected to be as low as 5 degrees on Tuesday night. Be prepared to take precautions against freezing pipes around your house.
