Forecast Discussion
After the recent passing of the cold front last night, temporary high pressure moves in to finish up the majority of our weekdays. Lots of zonal flow will keep conditions calm and pleasant today before a low-pressure system to the north increases chances of precipitation on Friday and into very early Saturday. The National Weather Service currently has Athens, OH in the Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) area for severe weather. With the rain, wind gusts are expected to reach 25mph from the south-southwest.
Following the rain, slight cold air advection and another surface cold front move in late Saturday night, dropping Sunday’s high into the low 50s before even stronger cold air advection drops Monday’s high to the low 30s. Chances of rain are light this weekend before potential chances of snow midday Monday.
