Technical Forecast Discussion

Short-Term Forecast (Thursday 10/30/2025 through Saturday 11/01/2025):

The low and trough aloft will remain over the state Thursday before dissipating overnight into Friday. Broad troughing and zonal patterns will occur through Saturday, but unsettled weekend is not expected to come of this. Broad high-pressure will fill in once the mid-latitude cyclone bringing us this rain moves northeastward later Thursday night into Friday. By then, clouds will decrease but will still linger. Thursday and Friday will see fairly gusty conditions with generally northwesterly winds thanks to the exiting low at the surface. Through the remainder of the short-term, 500 mb heights are expected to rise and stabilize with cold air advection moving through Ohio between 925 and 500 mb. Temperatures will likely remain in the mid-50s, though may feel a little chillier the remainder of the work week due to gusty winds. Moist air is expected to dissipate generally in the short-term but could return in the upper-levels by Saturday.

Long-Term Forecast (Sunday 11/02/2025 through Wednesday 10/05/2025):

Conditions will continue to remain stable during this time. Moisture will continue to be fairly absent, leading to clouds slightly dissipating even further. Another cut-off low may develop by Tuesday, but it’s likely too far south to be much of a concern. Despite this, zonal conditions are expected to dominate during the long-term leading to calmer weather next week. Heights will remain steady and high-pressure will stay strong and broad over much of the eastern United States. Weak warm air advection may occur with a very minor cooling trend for the start of the week. Overall, little is expected to be seen in the long-term as stable conditions return once more after a few rainy days this week.
