Forecast Discussion

A cold front enters the region today with clouds increasing as the day continues. Thunderstorms become possible in the late afternoon. An upper level trough will take over later today that will influence patterns into the weekend. The front will sit to the south on Friday as moisture sits over Ohio. Showers and a few storms are possible on Friday as temperatures finally cool with highs in the low 80s. The front will begin to move back northward on Saturday due to a shortwave trough that will also bring the remains of tropical depression Gordon in to the region. A warm front will pass through Athens from the south bringing another round of showers and storms. On Sunday, the cold front of the cyclone will move through leading to another lowering of temperatures as highs only reach the mid 70s.
