Forecast Discussion
The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Athens County until 11 am Wednesday.
Today, a low pressure system centered south of the area will bring us some snow and potentially rain in the evening as well. Accumulations of generally around 1-3″ are expected for Athens, which could impact the evening commute. Exercise caution on the roadways throughout the duration of this wintry weather. Precipitation will end overnight tonight before another system immediately enters the stage tomorrow afternoon, this time bringing us only rain. Winds also pick up tomorrow night in association with that system with gusts up to 25 mph anticipated. We get a break in the action starting Thursday morning, with some peeks of sunshine likely on Friday as highs hover around 40 degrees. However, the weekend looks wet, with soaking rains starting Saturday morning, continuing well into the night.
