The Weather Prediction Center has Athens, OH in a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) on the Excessive Rainfall Outlook today. Scattered flash floods are possible and may not be radar indicated. Dry soil may increase runoff and chances of localized flooding. Beware of low-lying areas and do not drive onto flooded roads.

An incoming low-pressure system that is cold-front dominated is going to be responsible for lots of heavy rainfall today for lots of Ohio. As the cold front passes over the region tonight, winds quickly switch from south-southwesterly to majorly northerly, and rainfall today will decrease high temperatures both today and tomorrow, cooling things down to the upper 60s to low 70s. Cloud cover quickly dissipates Wednesday morning, allowing nights to be clear and to potentially drop down to the mid 30s / lower 40s in certain areas Wednesday night; freeze watches may be issued for other areas in Ohio. Relative humidities will drop down to 40-50% on Wednesday and Thursday with dewpoints falling back down to about 20ºF below the high midday. When clouds move out and the rain clears up, high pressure moves in Thursday and the rest of this week & into the weekend is looking to feel more autumn-like and sunny!
