Storms continue to form ahead of the warm front as it pushes into the area. While most of the severe weather should stay in the Southwest Ohio region, some storms could produce heavy rains and small wind gusts. The shortwave trough that is responsible for the low pressure system will deepen over the Midwest On Saturday. The low pressure system will propagate further eastward, putting Athens between the frontal boundaries. Most of the the precipitation will be located here, so reoccurring periods of showers and storms are likely on Saturday. Precipitation continues into Saturday evening as the cold frontal boundary enters the area in the mid evening. Lines of storms and showers are likely ahead of this front, with some heavy downpours possible. Conditions remain relatively the same for on Sunday as the system moves southward. The low pressure system begins to dissipate on Monday while the shortwave maintains it’s strength. Showers and storms will become more spotty as the day progresses. The shortwave trough will dissipate early Tuesday, only for a upper level trough to takes it’s place as another round of showers and storms are likely from Tuesday through Wednesday.
