Forecast Discussion

Due to the mid-latitude cyclone approaching Ohio, a chance of precipitation will be in our forecast this weekend! Winds at the moment are from the East-Northeast, shifting to southerly tomorrow morning. This is caused by the warm front that will pass over Athens. This southernly flow will bring slightly warmer air but will not break the upper 60s due to overcast conditions.

There will be a chance of scattered showers, and possible rumbles of thunder. Not much a significant threat for Athens outside of rain showers Saturday. Luckily, as this mid-latitude cyclone passes through the Ohio Valley, rain chances will decrease into early next week. Unfortunately, the weekend will stay cloudy. Tomorrow’s solar eclipse will be obscured by clouds, even though we wouldn’t experience the full effects of the eclipse according to NASA.
