Forecast Discussion
The National Weather Service has Athens, OH in a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) for severe weather tonight. Damaging winds are the major threats, but hail and tornados cannot be fully ruled out.
These storms are resultants from being ahead of the cold front that will fully exit our region Saturday night as winds shift from southwesterly to northwesterly. Rain and potential thunderstorms continue through the night into Saturday morning. Clouds will begin decreasing as high pressure will move in once the cold front leaves our region. The beginning of next week will have plenty of sunshine as an aloft trough dissipates. Temperatures will slowly rise into the above-average ranges of low- to mid-80s.
The night sky will be mostly clear on Sunday night: perfect for viewing the Corn Moon! Unfortunately, North America is not in the viewing region for the Total Lunar Eclipse.
