A cooler week is on the rise! As a cold front had recently passed over Athens a couple days past, temperatures are looking to be in the low 50s this week, and will get down to low 30s at night. With these cooler temperatures comes chances of rain tonight and low pressure into tomorrow night as the jet stream dips down into Ohio. As this cool weather and low pressure move out of our region, temperatures will warm back up and sunny skies will return! For morning walks to work or school these next couple days, be sure to keep warm and bundle up, and also be sure to pack an umbrella. Both mornings of Tuesday and Wednesday pose chances of fog in the morning hours until about 10am.

Also, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for this week. Widespread frost with at least patchy freezing conditions are expected for the mornings of Wednesday through Friday. Frost and/or freeze headlines may be required during these times.

Lastly, active and as of October 8^th, 2024, the U.S. Drought Monitor still has Athens, OH under a D4 Exceptional Drought, which is the highest level. An open burn ban is in effect for the county.
