Forecast Discussion

Despite the high pressure and low relative humidities, clouds have gradually moved their way into Athens and will bring us chances of rain both Tuesday and Wednesday as the potential tropical cyclone EIGHT makes landfall on the east coast and moves inland. Overnight, temperatures will be warmer this week than the last, and the highs during the day will remain in the upper 70s/lower 80s. As the next days come to pass, temperatures will slowly warm back up again and we’ll move into sunnier, clear skies with no precipitation.

As of September 10th, the U.S. Drought Monitor still has Athens, OH in a level D4 Exceptional Drought, which is the highest level of drought. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook into tonight for elevated fire danger. Please be aware if you plan on lighting any fires.
