Forecast Discussion
Rain chances are expected to likely persist throughout the overnight, but much of the fuel for thunderstorms will likely die down throughout this time as well. Rain chances will exist on Tuesday but may primarily hit the region in the morning for brief amounts of time. Winds could remain between 5-10 mph tonight and tomorrow, gusting up to 15 mph, but the potential for severe weather is low and not a concern. Throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, the cold front line will continue to push southeastward towards Athens but may not move over the region until Thursday evening. A general cooling trend is expected to continue through the remainder of the week and into the weekend, though drier conditions are expected to return by this time as well. Please stay vigilant for the possibility of flash flooding due to the intense dry soil in our area and to stay up to date with any future forecasts!
