Tonight, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has Athens, OH finishing up being in a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) for severe weather, where strong gusty winds are the major threat for the stronger storms. Tomorrow, rain-wise, Athens is in a Slight Risk (Level 1/4) for possible isolated flash floods on the Excessive Rain Outlook and will continue being in a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) for severe weather. Following the trend of the last few days, be aware of any flood watches or warnings that may be issued; this is due to current saturated grounds that could cause flash flooding. Do not drive onto flood roads and be cautious of low-lying areas. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

As the cold front moves past our region, winds will gradually shift from southwesterly to northeasterly come Monday. Chances of rain and thunderstorms taper out after Sunday evening, before opening up into some hot days in the upper 80s, but clear and sunny – a good break after the consistent rain we’ve gotten recently. However, heat indices may creep into the mid to high 90s on Wednesday and Thursday.
