Forecast Discussion
An excessive heat watch has been issued for much of southeastern Ohio, northwestern West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania from June 17 to June 21. The National Weather Service states that “A prolonged period of dangerously hot conditions with heat index values at or exceeding 100 is forecast to start Monday and persist through at least Friday”. This means that prolonged periods of physical activity could lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke this upcoming week. Please be extra cautious if you work outside and drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible. Do not allow pets or children to sit in vehicles that are unattended.
Make sure to visit the National Weather Service’s safety page related to heat safety for more information about the concerns this upcoming week may bring.
