Forecast Discussion
The NWS Storm Prediction Center has the west portion of Athens county in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather tomorrow the 21st. Severe winds are the major risk as thunderstorms are likely in the evening to early morning Monday.
Earlier today, a stationary-turned-cold front passed to the southwest and into Kentucky. Tomorrow will be a warm and slightly cloudier day as a warm front helps support thunderstorms moving eastward into our region. Rain and thunderstorm chances continue from Sunday night into very early Monday morning before tapering out midday. Temperatures next week are looking to settle in the mid-70s from consistent cloud cover and rain showers.
However, despite the upcoming rain, Athens county may not decrease from its current D1 Moderate Drought level to a D0. The U.S. Drought Monitor will update conditions on Thursday.
