Southeast Athens county and portions of Meigs and Washington counties are under a Flash Flood Warning effective until 9:15pm. Athens county is also under a Flood Watch until tonight at 12:00am. This is due to heavy rains and already saturated grounds. Do not drive on flooded roads and be cautious of low lying areas. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Tomorrow, Athens is also in a Marginal Risk (1/4) (isolated flash floods possible) and a Slight Risk (2/4) (scattered flash floods possible) on Saturday and Sunday on the Excessive Rain Outlook. These rains and mugginess are resultants of a slow-moving cold front that persist until Friday to curate more rain and potential storms into Saturday, where a shortwave trough will continue dropping rain. When we move into Sunday, a mid-latitude cyclone will finally pick up where the trough left off, but chances for rain rather than storms are much higher.

Rain chances are persisting until Tuesday, so continue awareness of any flood watches and warnings that may be issued.
