Forecast Discussion

The National Weather Service out in Charleston, WV has issues a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Flood Watch in effect from Thursday morning to Thursday night. This is also written out on the NWS webpage.

Today we had warmer weather and clear skies due to southerly flow brining warm air into the Athens and SE Ohio area. This warmer weather is bringing high temperatures about 20+ degrees above normal February temperatures. There will be a system moving in tomorrow which will bring with it cloudy skies and precipitation for all day Thursday. This system moving in not only will bring precipitation for Thursday but high wind speeds of 10 to 25 mph throughout the day with wind gusts of up to 30 mph. Expect heavy rain which could switch to snow later in the night on Thursday when temperatures drop below freezing during the night. After the system, we should see clear to cloudy skies and no precipitation for the weekend.
