The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV has issued a Special Weather Statement until 10 pm tonight for the potential of snow showers that could briefly reduce visibility and cause slick spots on area roadways.

It will be frigid tonight with a small chance of a snow shower or two as temperatures drop into the single digits and wind chills plummet to about 0 degrees. This is all due to an arctic airmass in place over the region bringing in very cold air. Tomorrow night’s low will also fall into the single digits, so make sure you are taking proper precautions to keep yourself warm over the coming days.

Then, on Friday and especially overnight Friday, another system will bring us more accumulating snow. This system will not be nearly as impactful as Winter Storm Blair was earlier this week, but still, light snow accumulations of around 1-3 inches will be possible. This could potentially cause issues with travel over the weekend as more snow sticks to the roads, so make sure to keep checking back for updates to the forecast and this upcoming system’s impacts.

Afterwards, high pressure passes through the area quickly as temperatures remain similarly cold before another minor disturbance brings a slight chance of snow on Monday. We start next week with a high in the mid-30s.
