A mature mid-latitude cyclone is making its way through the Ohio Valley currently and its associated warm front has lifted through the region early this morning. Prefrontal showers have moved into the region and a couple of rumbles of thunder are possible. As the cold front moves through this evening into tonight, expect temperatures to drop slightly overnight and more light to moderate rain showers to move through along the cold front this afternoon. Rainfall totals from .75 – 1.25” are expected, bringing a threat for flash flooding in flood-prone and urban areas as outlined in the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook. Breezy winds today and tomorrow will also accompany rain with this mature system.

High pressure is going to build in behind the front starting early tomorrow morning and skies will begin to clear out with drier conditions. Friday into Saturday, a backdoor cold front from Canada is going to bring a sharp drop in temperature. No precipitation is expected, but some flurries are possible as temperatures drop below freezing and into the low 20s overnight. An overall warming trend will stick around though Sunday and Monday with another warm front moving through early next week and temperatures possibly reaching up into the low 60s by Monday.
