The NWS Weather Prediction Center has placed Athens County under a slight risk of excessive rainfall for Friday June 26th. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected to bring 0.75″ to 1.00″ of rain to the area, with local amounts possibly being higher within areas that receive heavy downpours in storms. Remain weather aware in case of flood and flash flood warnings as we head into the weekend.

Tonight starts a trend of stormy weather over the next few days. None of these storms are expected to be severe at this time, but stay tuned for updates in case that changes. There is a risk for excessive rainfall and possible flooding over the next couple days. Storms tonight and tomorrow morning will be more scattered in coverage. Then, another round of more widespread storms moves into the region on Friday afternoon, bringing near-constant rain through early Saturday morning before another scattered round moves through on Sunday. Looking ahead, Monday is the next time there will be some relief from the rain, and the start of next week appears to be sunny, but hot.
