Forecast Discussion
A strong system will move over the region tomorrow, bringing the chance for showers and thunderstorms to hit southeast Ohio throughout the day. The SPC has put Athens under a Marginal Risk for severe weather (1/5) tomorrow, though the primary threat will be hail and wind gusts. Showers may continue Wednesday night into early Thursday morning but will dry out Thursday morning. Calmer weather will likely continue Thursday, though breezy winds may continue as we have the chance to see wind gusts of up to 20 mph. Rain and storms may return Friday and Saturday into Sunday as two separate systems impact the state on Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday. Severe potential seems low on Friday, but it’s still unclear for Saturday. By Sunday, colder air will sweep over the region, plummeting our temperatures back into 50’s Sunday and early next week.
